Join Alessandra Belloni and I Giulliari Di Piazza for selections from the critically acclaimed production, Voyage of the Black Madonna. Written by Belloni and Dario Bollini, it traces the voyage of the Roman poet Virgil as he encounters seven Black Madonnas who help him understand the essential nature of Mother Earth. Based on legends from Southern Italy, it also includes melodies and rhythms drawn from the celebrations of the Black Madonna in Africa, Brazil, and the Gypsies of the Basque Regions of France and Spain. The music is sung in Italian by mezzosoprano Alessandra Belloni with baritone Ivan Thomas. Tickets are $15.
